US trade deficit down to $67.1 billion in October

The United States international trade deficit stood at $67.1 billion in October, representing a 17.6% decrease from the $81.4 billion revised figure recorded in September, according to a report published on Tuesday by the US Census Bureau and US Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Exports were 8.1% higher than in September, reaching $223.6 billion. Imports amounted to $290.7 billion in October, rising 0.9% month-on-month. Goods trade deficit dropped $14 billion to $83.9 billion, while services trade surplus grew $0.3 billion to $16.8 billion.

The biggest bilateral trade deficit in October was $28.3 billion with China, while the largest surplus of $4.5 billion was recorded with South and Central America, the report noted.
