US trade deficit grows to $90.3B in December

The goods and services trade deficit in the United States stood at $90.3 billion in December, going up by $7.3 billion from the revised figure of $82.9 billion the month before, the US Census Bureau stated in their preliminary report issued on Thursday.

The country's exports of goods landed at $166.8 billion, falling by $2.6 billion compared to November, while imports of goods increased by $4.7 billion to reach $257.1 billion.

Wholesale inventories gained 0.1% on a monthly level to $934.1 billion, jumping by 17.8% in comparison to the corresponding month the year before. Retail inventories stood at $742.2 billion in December, adding 0.5% on a monthy basis and 13.9% year over year.
