US trade deficit shrinks 4.3% to $67.4B in August

The United States trade deficit declined by 4.3% in August compared to the previous month to land at $67.4 billion, the Census Bureau reported on Wednesday. Since the start of the year, the trade deficit surged by 24.4% or 132.3 billion.

The US exports fell by 0.3% to $258.9 billion in the same period, while imports dropped 1.1% to $326.3 billion. Annually, exports grew 19.9% while imports jumped 21%. The largest trade deficit of $33.5 billion remained with China.
