US warns North Korea against attacking S. Korea
United States Special Representative for North Korea Policy Sung Kim (pictured) warned Pyongyang that any nuclear attack on South Korea will face a "swift, overwhelming and decisive" response.
"It's important to make clear to the DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea] that its escalatory behavior has consequences," Kim told Yonhap News Agency in an exclusive interview. "The DPRK must also understand that the only viable path forward is through diplomacy. ... The DPRK has increasingly engaged in threatening and irresponsible rhetoric."
"We continue to consult closely with the Republic of Korea (ROK), Japan, and other allies and partners about how to best engage the DPRK, deter aggression and coordinate international responses to the DPRK's violations of multiple UN [United Nations] Security Council (UNSC) resolutions," the diplomat concluded.
