US wholesale inventories up by 0.2% in February

Wholesale inventories in the United States for February, adjusted for seasonal variations but not for price changes, increased by 0.2% compared to the month before to reach $688.9 billion, the US Census Bureau said in a release on Wednesday. Compared to the same month a year ago, total inventories were up by 6.9%.

Meanwhile, sales of merchant wholesalers, adjusted for seasonal variations and trading-day differences but not for price changes, amounted to $495.9 billion in February, 0.3% higher than in the previous month and 2.1% higher compared to the same month in 2018. The ratio between inventories and sales for merchant wholesalers was 1.35 in February, up from 1.29 recorded a year ago.
