US won't accept nuclear-armed N. Korea - official

Washington will not accept North Korea having nuclear weapons, Sydney Seiler, the US national intelligence officer for North Korea said at a virtual event hosted by The Washington Times Foundation.

Seiler also noted that the regime likely sees no benefit in denuclearization and that it considers the development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles the sole means that will guarantee its survival. "At the end of the day, Pyongyang calculates — or at least the Kim regime calculates — its survival in no way is related to an improved relationship with South Korea and is not even related to an improved relationship with the United States," the ranking official concluded.

Earlier, the US Department of State said that Secretary Blinken, this week, plans to call for the implementation of resolutions against Pyongyang.
