Vaccination is having right impact in UK - official

Strategy Director for Public Health England Dr. Susan Hopkins said on Sunday that the United Kingdom is seeing the impact of its vaccination rollout, labeling the latest data as "good news."

Hopkins stated that cases are slowing down or stabilizing again in areas where they were on the rise, like Bolton or Blackburn, crediting it to more people getting vaccinated. Additionally, she noted that this latest surge will probably not look like the other waves, due to the decision to delay the reopening thus giving extra time for people to get fully vaccinated.

However, Hopkins admitted that cases in some areas are "rising quite fast," with the country registering a four-month high yesterday. Earlier in the week, it was reported that 80% of UK adults were given at least one shot of the coronavirus vaccine, as Whitehall is determined to keep the new July 19 reopening deadline.
