Virus cases in NY down by 75% in past weeks - governor

The number of cases of COVID-19 registered in New York has declined by 75% in comparison to early January, the Empire State's Governor Kathy Hochul stated on Tuesday.

The latest data showed that the seven-day average of new cases recorded in the state dropped by 38.9% in comparison to the week before, while hospital admissions for the same period decreased by 13.6%.

"We hope to close the books on this winter surge soon," Hochul remarked.
