Visa posts oper. revenue at $5.5B in Q2, up 8% YoY

American financial services corporation Visa Inc. announced on Wednesday that its operating revenue in the second quarter of fiscal 2019 amounted to $5.5 billion, marking a 7.8% increase year-over-year.

Meanwhile, Visa stated that earnings per share were $1.31 in the period ending March 31 2019, jumping 17% compared to the same three months of last year. The company added that its net income stood at $3 billion, rising 14% compared to the same period of 2018. Payments volume rose 8% year-on-year, according to the report.

"Visa had another solid quarter demonstrating the power of the business model. We continue to invest heavily behind important strategic initiatives while delivering net income and earnings per share growth of 14% and 17%, respectively," Chief Executive Alfred Kelly stated.

Shares of the financial corporation were down 0.92% in aftermarket trading on Wall Street.
