Von der Leyen: Open to Brexit delay request

President of the European Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen said on Friday that Brussels would be "open" to a new Brexit delay request from the United Kingdom.

Speaking to German radio Deutschlandfunk, Von der Leyen asserted that negotiations on Britain's departure from the EU would continue despite chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier confirming he has been infected with the coronavirus.

The second round of Brexit talks scheduled for next week was called off as negotiating teams said they are looking at "alternative ways" of discussing Brexit amid the coronavirus pandemic.
