Von der Leyen to meet OpenAI's Altman Thursday
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is scheduled to meet with OpenAI's Chief Executive Sam Altman on Thursday, the Commission's spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday.
The meeting will come after Altman initially said the AI company was considering leaving Europe if the bloc proceeds with implementing its newest AI regulations. However, the head of the ChatGPT developer retracted his statement noting OpenAI currently has no plans to leave the bloc.
Western government officials increased efforts to standardize the industry in the wake of the rapid development of AI-powered tools. Earlier this month, The White House began discussions with tech giants Google and Microsoft on data privacy concerns related to the use of AI technology.
