VW electric vehicles deliveries up by 27% in H1
The Volkswagen Group saw an increase in its deliveries of fully electric vehicles by 27% in the first six months of the year compared to the same period the previous year, totaling 217,100 vehicles delivered, the German carmaker revealed in a statement on Friday.
Despite delivery bottlenecks, a temporary production halt in Europe, and pandemic lockdowns in China, the BEV (battery electric vehicle) share of total deliveries reached 5.6%, up 3.4% in the first half of the fiscal year. China saw the greatest increase in deliveries, totaling 63,500 BEVs, up more than threefold from the same period last year. Meanwhile, BEV orders in Western Europe improved by 40%.
"Demand remains high and we expect an improved supply situation in the second half of the year," said Group Board Member for Sales Hildegard Wortmann, adding that the group remains committed to achieving "a BEV share of 7 to 8 percent for the year as a whole."
