Walgreens Q3 revenue up 12% to $34 billion

Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. unveiled on Thursday that its revenue for the third fiscal quarter of 2021 increased 12% when compared to the same period last year climbing to $34 billion.

For the same period, operating income increased to $1.1 billion from a $1.7 billion operating loss last year, while net earnings also rose to $1.2 billion. Total earnings per share stood at $1.38 a substantial gain from last year's loss per share of $1.95. Per segment, the pharmaceutical firm stated that the United States sales saw a 5.1% annual increase rising to $28.7 billion, while international sales soared 75.8% to $5.3 billion. Total prescriptions filled in the quarter were 8.7% higher reaching 312.1 million.

Chief Executive Officer Rosalind Brewer commented on the results: "This quarter’s results demonstrate continued momentum, and while challenges lie ahead, we are in a strong position to grow and innovate our core retail and pharmacy businesses for the future."
