Wall Street closes higher as S&P 500 hits new record

Trading on Wall Street finished on a higher note on Tuesday as major indices continued to break records following November's rally. The S&P 500, the Nasdaq and the Nasdaq 100 recorded intraday record highs earlier in the session, building on strong gains posted last month.

Aside from economic data reports released earlier in the day, investors reacted to President-elect Joe Biden's reveal of his economic team.

The Dow Jones gained 185 points at the close; Apple was the strongest performer, rising over 3%. The S&P 500 was up 1.13% to 3,662 points, a record closing high, as Apartment Investment and Management Company led the gains. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq 100 surged 1.52% with Micron Technology jumping 4.67%.
