Wall Street closes higher with Fed rate decision looming
United States stock markets made modest gains at the end of the final trading session of the week. The Federal Reserve will announce its interest rate decision on June 14 and most traders seem to be expecting a pause in the rate-hiking process. However, a higher-than-expected consumer inflation print on June 13 could make the Fed opt for another increase in rates.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average index closed with a 0.13% gain as Salesforce rose by 2.76%. The Nasdaq 100 increased by 0.30% at the close, pulled up by Tesla's 4.06% jump. The S&P 500 was up 0.11% at 4 pm ET with its best performer Match Group adding 6.50%.
The euro was 0.38% lower compared to the dollar, going for 1.07437 at 3:59 pm ET.
