Wall Street closes mostly lower on China tensions, data

Major stock markets on Wall Street closed mostly lower on Monday after it was revealed the United States' budget deficit in June soared to $864 billion as a result of the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. In the meantime, State Secretary Mike Pompeo denounced China's territorial claims in the South China Sea, although President Donald Trump stated the trade deal between is still being honored by both sides.

The Dow Jones Industrial Index stood flat at the close. The Nasdaq 100 lost 2.08% as DocuSign decreased by 9.56%. The S&P 500 fell by 0.94% with Fortinet declining by 10.07%.

The euro increased by 0.42% to the dollar to sell for $1.13470 at 3:57 pm ET.
