Wall Street higher in premarket on Fed decision day

Wall Street traded slightly higher on Wednesday in premarket trade ahead of the United States Federal Reserve's interest rate decision which is due later in the day. CME's Fed Watch Tool showed that traders expect interest rates to remain unchanged.

Optimism remained steady as the US and China agreed to continue their trade talks. However, the US was left hunting for a new defense secretary candidate after Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan said he was leaving the Pentagon amid heightened tensions with Iran which said it would not back down from its decision to withdraw from parts of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
