Wall Street lower premarket ahead of data

Major stock exchanges on Wall Street were below the flatline on Wednesday as investors awaited data on the country's trade balance and pending home sales that are set for release later today.

The negative sentiment is seemingly driven by concerns about an economic downturn that pushed the equities to slump at the end of Tuesday's trading session leading the Dow Jones Industrial Average to plunge into the bear market, while the S&P 500 neared the lowest level of the year.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted by 0.18% at 4:16 am ET. At the same time, the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 slumped by 1.12% and 0.51% respectively. The euro traded 0.22% lower against the dollar, to change hands to $0.95726 a minute later.
