We are very far down the line on COVID-19 vaccine - Trump

United States President Donald Trump claimed on Sunday that the US is "very far down the line" on creating a vaccine for coronavirus in cooperation with other countries.

The president said at the Coronavirus Task Force briefing in the White House that the United States tested 1.67 million people for COVID-19, "far more than any country was able to do," adding that "in the days ahead America is going to endure the peak of this terrible pandemic."

The anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine is being tested in the US as "29 million pills" were acquired by the country, Trump stressed, adding that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) "feels good about it" as it gave rapid approval for using it for creating a treatment for COVID-19.
