Westminster is failing Scotland - Sturgeon

Nicola Sturgeon, the first minister of Scotland and the leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP), said on Friday that no matter what people think of the option of the Scottish independence, everyone agrees that the government in London failed Scotland. Speaking at the launch of the SNP's manifesto for the European elections, Sturgeon stated that the SNP has a responsibility to provide hope because "Westminster politics is in a pretty dark place right now."

"Whatever people’s views on independence, or whether indeed people voted remain or leave, one thing is clear and beyond doubt: Westminster is failing all of us," Sturgeon said. "The future of our country is at stake. So, faced with Brexit - and very possibly an extreme Farage-Johnson style Brexit- people in Scotland deserve the right to decide whether Scotland should become an independent member of the EU instead," she asserted.

Earlier in the day, the cross-party Brexit negotiations between the government and the Labour officially ended. Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn said that the talks failed due to the "weakness and inability" of Prime Minister Theresa May's cabinet.
