WH confirms Trump-Trudeau meeting next week

The White House confirmed on Friday that United States President Donald Trump will meet Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Washington on June 20.

"President Trump and Prime Minister Trudeau will discuss the shared economic interests of their countries, including the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and opportunities to drive more growth and create jobs in both the United States and Canada," the White House said in a statement. According to the office of the White House press secretary, the two leaders will also talk about the upcoming G20 summit in Osaka.

Earlier, Trump noted that both Canada and Mexico are in line on the USMCA and noted it is now up to the US Congress to approve the deal. "Hopefully they can act quickly," Trump told reporters on Thursday and noted the USMCA will likely be passed "very fast" if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Congress Democrats support the agreement.
