WH: Lighthizer and Mnuchin to travel to Beijing on April 30

United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Secretary of Treasury Steven Mnuchin will continue trade negotiations with China on April 30, the White House announced. Two of the highest US officials will travel to Beijing and will conduct talks on trade relations with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He, after which he will visit Washington for additional discussions on May 8.

Both sides in the ongoing trade conflict have recently commended progress achieved in the latest rounds of talks. Last week, Commerce Ministry of China revealed that the negotiations are advancing, but added that there is still much to do before the deal can be finalized. Media previously reported that a summit between US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping might happen during the US leader's visit to Japan set for May.
