WH: US taking North Korea's actions seriously

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stressed at a press conference on Tuesday that the United States is taking North Korea's recent tests of ballistic missiles "very, very seriously" and "strongly condemns" Pyongyang's latest launch that saw the rocket fly over Japan's territory.

Echoing the statement the White House released earlier in the day, Jean-Pierre underscored that North Korea's actions represent a "clear violation" of the United Nations (UN) Security Council's (UNSC) resolutions. She added the US will continue to coordinate its response to the situation with Japan, South Korea, and the international community.

Additionally, Jean-Pierre noted the US still believes that "diplomacy and dialogue" should be the tool that resolves the crisis and that a "complete denuclearization" of the Korean Peninsula remains its goal. She also said that Washington's representatives are ready to meet with North Korea for negotiations without any preconditions.
