Williams: Fed's policy well-positioned right now

New York Federal Reserve President John Williams said that the United States economy is in a good place, stressing the labor market is strong and unemployment low. The central banker also noted he doesn't believe the Fed should neither cut rates further nor raise them.

"I think monetary policy is well-positioned right now," Williams stated during a dinner event in New York and added he expects rates to remain low in the "foreseeable future."

In October, the Fed cut rates for the third time this year, bringing them to the 1.50%-1.75% range, but signalled it will not lower them further.
