Won't use 'classic' measures to fight coronavirus impact - Altmaier

Germany is not planning a fiscal program in a "classic sense" to deal with the impact of the coronavirus, the country's Minister of Economy Peter Altmaier (pictured) stated on Thursday.

Altmaier said he will hold "intensive" talks with Minister of Finance Olaf Scholz in order to devise specific individual measures to deal with the outbreak's effect on the economy, adding there were no major disruptions in orders or to supply chains in Germany so far.

Yesterday, Jens Spahn, Germany's health minister, warned the country was "at the beginning of a COVID-19 epidemic" as officials can no longer track all infection chains in the newly infected patients.
