Would consider tariffs if oil prices remain at this level - Trump

United States President Donald Trump told the press on Sunday he would consider placing tariffs on oil imports if Russia and Saudi Arabia fail to reach a deal on oil market stabilization.

The objective is to save a "great industry," the president said, claiming he wouldn't be opposed to placing "substantial" tariffs in case the two countries don't reach an agreement, adding, however, he doesn't think it will be necessary.

Trump noted the move would signify not wanting any foreign oil, but that American energy is independent and would not suffer.
