Xi: Ukraine crisis can be solved with pragmatic talks
Chinese President Xi Jinping said the conflict between Russia and Ukraine can be solved "if everyone is guided by the concept of common, comprehensive, joint and sustainable security, and continue dialogue and consultations in an equal, prudent and pragmatic manner." In an op-ed ahead of his visit to Russia, he said China "has always taken an objective and impartial position, and has made active efforts to promote reconciliation and peace negotiations."
Xi also touted China's relations with Russia, stating that bilateral trade jumped 116% in 2022 compared to a decade ago, totaling $190 billion, with China being's Russia's largest trading partner for 13 years in a row. He said collaborative projects in the fields of energy, space, aviation and transport connectivity are underway, while the two sides are working on expanding cooperation in scientific and technological innovation and cross-border e-commerce.
