Yellen: Bringing inflation down Biden's top priority
United States Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen insisted on Wednesday while speaking to the House Committee on Appropriations that bringing inflation down remains President Joe Biden's top priority.
Commenting on the aid Washington is sending to Ukraine, Yellen stressed that helping the conflict-hit country is a matter of economic and national security for the US. She underlined the importance of working with the World Bank on distributing funds as that institution has the necessary audit and oversight mechanisms. Additionally, she noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his administration are being careful about how the funds sent are used.
Earlier this month, Yellen described inflation as the country's "number one economic problem" and the administration's priority to tackle.
