Zakharova fires back at US over Nord Stream comments
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova (pictured) on Saturday accused the US of approving a "terrorist attack" on a facility used for civil infrastructure, referring to the statement about Nord Stream 2 made by United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland.
Nuland previously said the US is pleased knowing that the pipeline became inoperational, which Zakharova characterized as "evidence" of Washington's "motive to undermine global energy security."
In late September, Nord Stream 1 and 2 suffered massive explosions, which caused "extensive damage" to the two underwater pipelines connecting Russia to Germany, sparking speculation about possible sabotage.
