Zarif leaves Biarritz, says nuclear talks 'worth trying'

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif left Biarritz after wrapping up talks with G7 leaders, media reported on Sunday.

Reports indicated that Zarif had held talks for over three hours, including 30 minutes with French President Emmanuel Macron. On the topic of the nuclear talks, Zarif said that the road ahead was "difficult" but that it was "worth trying." The French presidency also hailed the discussions with Zarif as "positive."

Zarif arrived in the resort where the G7 summit is ongoing on a surprise visit earlier in the day. Subsequent reports confirmed that he did so at the behest of the French government in order to ease tensions over Iran's nuclear program.
