ZEW: German economic sentiment brightens in November

Economic sentiment in Germany significantly improved in November, according to the monthly survey from the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) released on Tuesday.

The ZEW Indicator of economic sentiment jumped 20.7 points to stand at -2.1 points this month. "There is growing hope that the international economic policy environment will improve in the near future, which explains the sharp rise in the ZEW Indicator of Economic Sentiment in November," ZEW President Professor Achim Wambach commented.

Wambach added that growing optimism regarding the prospects of a Brexit deal also contributed to improved sentiment, as well as hope that the United States and China will reach a deal soon as the two countries are set to sign a partial trade agreement in the coming weeks.
