ZNPP chief engineer fired for working with Russia - Energoatom

Ukrainian state nuclear power plant operator Energoatom President Petro Kotin dismissed the deputy chief engineer of the Zaporizhzhia plant, Yuriy Chernichuk on Thursday, accusing the employee of collaborating with Russian forces.

Energoatom's president revealed that the decision was based on the verified information indicating Chernichuk's collaboration with the "occupiers," accusing the nuclear power plant's deputy engineer of aiding Russia in legalizing its "criminal seizure" of the facility and inciting other employees at the power plant to do the same.

The day before, Moscow appointed Yuriy Chernichuk as the new director of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (ZNPP), after Ukraine noted that the facility's employees' access to the plant was "limited." This week, Moscow underlined that the nuclear power plant was still "under the control" of Russia.
