Zuckerberg calls on govt to regulate tech more

There needs to be more regulation in big tech which will come from the government, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in prepared remarks ahead of his testimony in the United States Congress. Zuckerberg stressed it should not be only up to tech firms to decide on privacy, elections, data portability or harmful content.

"Section 230 made it possible for every major internet service to be built and ensured important values like free expression and openness were part of how platforms operate. Changing it is a significant decision. However, I believe Congress should update the law to make sure it's working as intended," Zuckerberg noted.

Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act ensures that tech companies cannot be sued for the content published on their platforms. In June, the US Department of Justice proposed limiting the legislation.
