Tesla silently prolongs Model 3 delivery date
Tesla Motors will begin production of the new Model 3 by mid-2017 and estimates delivery to start by mid-2018 or later, according to the company's website statement released on Tuesday.
On Sunday, however, the website said deliveries for the new car will be in late 2017, according to CNBC. However, Tesla made clear that the new delivery date only applies to new orders.
The automaker was also set to deliver company announcements on Monday, and has pushed back the product unveiling for Wednesday. Additionally, shareholders are looking forward to hear more about Tesla's bid for SolarCity. The tech giant first plans to unveil its integrated solar roof product on October 28, followed by additional financial information relating to the merger due for release on November 1.
