Investment strategy
The fund is actively managed. The fund is managed in reference to a benchmark. The fund promotes environmental and social characteristics and is subject to the disclosure requirements of a financial product in accordance with article 8(1) of Regulation (EU) 2019/2088 on sustainability-related disclosures in the financial services sector. More ESG information is available in the sales prospectus and on the DWS website. The objective of the investment policy is to achieve capital appreciation relative to the benchmark (MSCI Europe IMI EU CTB Overlay Index). To achieve this, the fund invests mainly in equities of issuers from European countries. The focus is on equities of issuers (i) who have already set themselves decarbonization targets or who are already working on taking them into account in the future, (ii) who, as providers of products and services for climate solutions (such as companies from the fields of alternative energies or energyefficient technologies), contribute to the achievement of net zero emissions and/or (iii) with whom the Company is involved in net zero engagement activities.
When selecting the suitable investments, environmental and social aspects as well as the principles of corporate governance ("ESG standards") are of key importance for the implementation of the fund"s sustainable investment strategy. Issuers that generate their revenues from activities related to power generation or other use of nuclear energy and natural gas as well as from the extraction of uranium or natural gas may be acquired for the investment fund. The return of the product is reflected by the daily calculated net asset value per unit and the distribution amount if applicable. The majority of the fund's securities or their issuers are expected to be components of the benchmark. The fund management will use its discretion to invest in securities and sectors that are not included in the benchmark in order to take advantages of specific investment opportunities. It is expected that the portfolio will not necessarily have a similar weighting to the benchmark. The positioning of the fund can deviate substantially from the benchmark (e.g., by holding positions that are not contained in the benchmark, as well as by a substantial underweighting or overweighting). The actual leeway in this respect is normally relatively high. In general, a deviation reflects the fund manager"s assessment of the particular market situation. This may lead to a more defensive and narrower positioning or to a more active and broader positioning relative to the benchmark, Despite the fact that the fund aims to outperform the benchmark, the potential outperformance might be limited depending on the prevailing market environment (e.g. less volatile market environment) and actual positioning versus the benchmark.
