Amazon Q2 EPS top estimates at $15.12

E-commerce giant outperformed analyst predictions on Thursday with its earnings per share (EPS) growth in the second quarter, while simultaneously missing estimates with its revenue figure. According to the update, Amazon's EPS during the period were $15.12, rising from the $10.30 per share reported in the second quarter of 2020.

However, the company posted revenue of $113.1 billion in the three months ended June 30, up 27% on the year but below expectations. Furthermore, Amazon's guidance for the third quarter also came in weaker than projections as the company now expects sales between $106 billion and $112 billion.

In reaction to the news, Amazon sank 5.33% to $3,408 per share in after-hours trading.
