Asian stocks fall ahead of BoJ interest rate decision

Major stock market indexes in Asia traded lower on Thursday with investors awaiting Bank of Japan's monetary policy statement and interest rate decision, also keeping their focus on the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as the number of global infections surpassed 30 million during the day.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite traded 0.57% lower at 4:32 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite losing 0.6% a minute later. At 4:33 am CET, Hong Kong's Hang Seng dropped 1.14%, as South Korea's Kospi fell 0.71%. Japan's Nikkei 225 decreased by 0.74% at 4:30 am CET.

The dollar traded 0.09% higher against the yen, going for ¥105.0520 at 04:34 am CET, with the Australian S&P/ASX 200 going 0.77% down at the same time.
