Biden: Largest economies have to step up on climate change

United States President Joe Biden opened on Thursday the Leaders Summit on Climate by urging all the participants, and particularly the world's largest economies, to "step up" their efforts to curb climate change. He stated that focusing on green technologies will make economies of the future "more competitive and more resilient."

"Countries that take decisive action now to create the industries of the future will be the ones to reap the economic benefits of the clean energy boom that's coming," Biden stressed. "This is a moral imperative, an economic imperative. A moment of peril, but also a moment of extraordinary possibility," the president told world leaders at the virtual summit. He previously revealed plans for the US to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50-52% by 2030.
