Biden, Suga to discuss China in Washington - report

United States President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga are expected to discuss a series of issues arising from China's policies, "including China's actions in the Taiwan Strait and human rights abuses in Xinjiang and Hong Kong," NBC News reported. Suga will arrive in Washington on Friday and will be the first foreign leader to meet with Biden since his inauguration.

According to a senior administration official, "neither country is seeking to raise tension or provoke China, but at the same time we're trying to send a clear signal." The source added that the Biden administration recognizes "the deep economic and commercial ties between Japan and China" and Suga's desire to "walk a careful course."
