Blackford tells Johnson to go to Brussels and seek extension

Leader of the Scottish National Party in the House of Commons Ian Blackford told Prime Minister Boris Johnson that it "is crystal clear" he now must do as Parliament "instructed" him and "go to Brussels and seek an extension."

By saying that he would not ask for another delay from the European Union, Blackford stated, Johnson "ignored the wishes of the Scottish Parliament and people." The Scottish MP warned that if the prime minister continues to ignore the wishes of the people maybe it's time for "Scotland to become an independent country."

Moments earlier, the lower chamber of UK Parliament approved the government's Withdrawal Agreement Bill, only to reject the timetable for the legislative process immediately after.
