Blinken: US support for Israel 'ironclad'
United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated on Monday that Washington's commitment to Israel remains "ironclad," while also repeating the calls for de-escalation of conflict after a deadly strike on a Jerusalem synagogue.
Speaking at a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Blinken underscored the US's support, stating that it "never wavered, never will," while also noting that the relationship between Israeli and Palestinians must be based on "equal measures of freedom, security, opportunity, justice, and dignity."
While admitting that the efforts to ensure a "circle of peace" by building cooperation between Tel Aviv and other countries "cannot be a substitute for progress" between Israelis and Palestinians, Blinken stressed that advancing Israel's integration can be done "in ways that improve the daily lives of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza."
