Car bomb kills 4 in Baghdad amid protests

A car bomb killed up to four people in Baghdad on Friday and around 20 are believed to have been injured, local media reported. The bombing took place near the city's central Tahrir Square which has been a meeting ground for protests that have been taking place since early October as citizens demonstrate against electoral laws, corruption, unemployment and the state of public services in the country.

Earlier in the day, a bomb near Tayaran Square, which is located close to Tahrir Square, killed two and injured 12, according to security sources.

Meanwhile, media reports said Iraqi riot police killed three people as violence escalated on Friday during protests in Baghdad. The death toll since the beginning of the protests has surpassed 320.
