Dow surges 400 points as nonfarm payrolls jump

The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 400 points in the premarket on Thursday after the release of the better-than-expected jobs report by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). According to the BLS's June report, the US added 4.8 million jobs and the unemployment rate fell by 2.2 percentage points to 11.1%.

The Dow Jones soared 1.44% or 380 points at 8:42 am ET as the Nasdaq 100 gained 0.94% a minute later. Concurrently, the S&P 500 rose by 1.14%.

The euro gained 0.30% versus the dollar, to change hands at $1.12842 at 8:44 am ET.
