DUP says will not vote for Brexit deal

The Democratic Unionist Party released a statement on Thursday saying it be "unable to support" the new withdrawal deal with the European Union, announced earlier in the day.

"These proposals are not, in our view, beneficial to the economic well-being of Northern Ireland and they undermine the integrity of the Union," the Northern Irish party stressed. Other issues that were singled out were that European Customs Union rules will continue to apply regardless of the fact that Northern Ireland would remain a part of the same customs territory with the rest of Britain.

Additionally, separate VAT rules in the country was also an obstacle, as well as the lack of consent required by the region's legislature and executive, the party stated.
