EIA: US oil inventories down by 1.4M barrels

United States crude oil inventories decreased by 1.4 million barrels to 455.2 million barrels for the week ending April 12, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday.

Crude oil refinery inputs averaged 16.1 million barrels per day during the same week, which is 23,000 barrels less than the previous week's average. Refineries operated at 87.7% of their capacity. Meanwhile, gasoline production was down compared to the week before, averaging 4.8 million barrels per day.

Crude oil imports averaged 6 million barrels per day last week, falling by 607,000 barrels per day from the previous week. Total commercial petroleum inventories grew by 2.5 million barrels.
