Eni's Q2 operating profit surges to €2B

Eni S.p.A. reported on Friday that its adjusted operating profit surged from an operating loss of €434 million last year to a profit of €2.04 billion.

At the same time, Eni's adjusted net profit climbed to €929 million, for a yearly gain of 230%. The company's diluted earnings per share for the previous trimester increased 220% year-over-year to stand at €0.24. Eni's total revenue for the second quarter was €16.64 billion.

Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi commented on the results: "Eni delivered exceptional results in the second quarter of the year, continuing the upward trend of the last three quarters and beating market expectations across all of its business segments. The strong performances across our business and a continued focus on capital discipline resulted in strong cash flow generation in the first half of 2021 with €1.82 billion of free cash flow after organic capital expenditure."
