Euro area inflation seen at 1% in August

The annual inflation in the Eurozone is expected to stand at 1% in August, according to a flash estimate published by the statistical office of the European Union Eurostat on Friday. The figure is unchanged from July's rate.

Food, alcohol and tobacco are set to have the highest annual rate with inflation at 2.1% in August, compared to a growth of 1.9% a month earlier. Services inflation rate is seen at 1.3%, up by 0.1 percentage point month on month, while non-energy industrial goods inflation rate is expected at 0.4%. On the other hand, energy prices are seen declining 0.6% annually in August.

The complete inflation data for August is scheduled for release on September 18.
