Euro area producer prices down 3.2% in April
Producer prices in the Eurozone fell by 3.2% in April compared to March, Eurostat said in a report on Monday. In the European Union, the month-on-month drop in the Producer Price Index (PPI) was 2.9%. Compared to April 2022, producer prices rose by 1% in the euro area and 2.3% in the EU.
The PPI was down 10.1% in the energy sector and 0.6% for intermediate goods on a monthly basis, and it increased d by 0.2% for durable consumer goods, by 0.3% for non-durable consumer goods and by 0.4% for capital goods. In the EU, industrial producer prices decreased by 8.9% in the energy sector and by 0.6% for intermediate goods, growing by 0.1% for durable consumer goods and by 0.4% for both capital goods and non-durable consumer goods.
