Europe opens higher after company revenues, data
European markets opened higher on Tuesday drawing from a positive sentiment induced by earnings reports which showed strong results for French BNP Paribas in 2022, while BP netted record revenue. On the data front, the United Kingdom in January saw the lowest annual house price growth in three years. The day also had Germany reporting its industrial production dropped in December.
Frankfurt's DAX gained 0.08% at the opening bell, as Linde's shares rose 1.12%. The CAC 40 added 0.10%, and the Euro Stoxx 50 increased by 0.18%, with TotalEnergies advancing in both indexes by 1.58%. London's FTSE 100 went up 0.14%. The best performer was BP whose stocks jumped 2.88%.
The euro was down 0.06% against the dollar, to sell at $1.07252 at 8:58 am CET. The pound sterling traded flat versus the greenback, changing hands to $1.20222 concurrently.
