Eurozone inflation rate at 0.9% in January

The inflation in the Eurozone amounted to 0.9% in January, up 1.2 percentage points compared to the month before, Eurostat's report showed on Tuesday. In the European Union, the rate climbed to 1.2%, marking a 0.9-percentage-point increase on a monthly basis.

The largest contribution to the inflation figure in the euro area came from services, contributing 0.65 percentage points, while the non-energy industrial goods contributed 0.37 percentage points to the increase. Meanwhile, energy provided a negative contribution of 0.41 percentage points in the first month of 2021.

Among the euro area countries, the highest inflation rate was recorded in Poland, with the figure standing at 3.6%, while the lowest rate was reported in Greece, the deflation rate of which climbed to 2.4%.
